Privacy Policy

Papr — Last updated: January 2026

The Short Version

Papr processes PDFs locally in your browser. We do not upload your files or run analytics. We do not currently display ads. If we add ads in the future, they may be provided by Google AdSense to help keep Papr free. Ad preferences would be managed through Google's consent message where shown. The only information you actively send us is through the Contact Us form, and your browser may connect to third-party providers to download fonts and OCR/PDF assets.

Papr is operated by Barebones Supplements LLC, a Connecticut limited liability company.

How Papr Works

Papr is a browser-based PDF editor. PDF processing happens locally in your browser; your files and annotations are not uploaded to our servers. Some features download fonts and OCR/PDF assets from third-party CDNs.

What We Collect

We do not collect, transmit, or store:

  • Your PDF files or their contents
  • Usage analytics
  • First-party analytics or tracking cookies

Note: While Papr does not collect this data, if we enable advertising in the future, an advertising partner (such as Google AdSense) may collect information and set cookies or device identifiers as described in the Advertising section below.

If you choose to contact us, we receive the information you submit as described below.

Local Storage

Papr stores data in your browser (IndexedDB and localStorage) to support session recovery, annotations, and preferences like theme. OCR language packs are also stored locally after download. This data stays on your device and may persist until you clear site data.

Third-Party Content Delivery

To load fonts and OCR/PDF assets, your browser may request files from:

  • Google Fonts (Inter font)
  • unpkg.com (PDF.js CMaps)
  • cdn.jsdelivr.net and/or unpkg.com (Tesseract language data)

These providers receive standard request data such as IP address and user agent. Your PDF content is not sent in these requests.

Advertising

Papr does not currently display ads. If we introduce ads in the future, they may be provided by Google AdSense to help keep Papr free. Non-personalized ads would be shown by default unless you opt in to personalized ads through Google's consent message where shown. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads.

Google and its advertising partners may collect:

  • Cookies and device identifiers
  • IP address and general location
  • Browser type and settings
  • Information about ads served, viewed, or clicked

You can opt out of personalized advertising via Google's consent message where shown or by visiting Google's My Ad Center. You may also visit the DAA opt-out page for additional options.

For more information, see How Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps.

Choices and Consent

If ads are enabled, we would show non-personalized ads by default and let you opt in to personalized ads through Google's consent message where shown. Your selection is stored by Google's consent platform.

If your browser sends Global Privacy Control (GPC), we treat it as an opt-out of sale/sharing and default to non-personalized ads.

Do Not Sell or Share (California)

We do not sell personal information. If ads are enabled, we may share limited data with advertising partners to show ads, which may be considered "sharing" under California law. You can opt out via Google's consent message where shown or by enabling GPC in your browser.

Contact Form

When you use our Contact Us feature, your message (including name and email) is transmitted via Web3Forms to reach us. Web3Forms processes this message according to their own terms and privacy policy.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as Papr evolves. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
